The Disaster Artist

Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero become friends after meeting each other in an acting class in San Francisco. Hoping to achieve Hollywood stardom, Sestero moves to Los Angeles and signs on to appear in his buddy's project. Financed with his own money, Wiseau writes, directs and stars in "The Room," a critically maligned movie that becomes a cult classic. Starring James Franco, Dave Franco, Zac Efron, and Seth Rogen. Based on a true story.

Rated R. Drama/Biography. Directed by James Franco. 1h 45m.

What the Critics Say:

“‘The Disaster Artist’ is primarily a pedestal for the ultimate James Franco performance — it’s his Lincoln.” — Vulture

“Just as Johnny Depp gave his career-best performance as Z-movie auteur Ed Wood, Franco achieves what could become his most iconic role.” — Variety

“Franco’s movie is ultimately a chronicle of the genesis of great art — namely a work even its creator didn’t fully understand, and whose popularity few could have ever imagined.” — The Atlantic

Our Take: This is a James Franco masterpiece, through and through. Sounds like an Oscar or two are imminent!
